It’s lost a little weight, gained further aero shaping and, now that the design is disc specific, it’s opened up tyre clearance to a massive 38c size. Fender mounts are neatly hidden away on the new Domane frames.

The new Domane SLR truly feels like it’s now on equal footing in Trek’s road lineup, rather than a second-string “but we also have this” option that’s somehow lesser than the Madone and Emonda.

More noticeable is the fact that the new Domane frames are stiffer than before, owing to the new Top Tube IsoSpeed design and the far more bulbous front ends that are required to accommodate the revised internal cable routing configurations.
